Get the Most Out of Your Livestock from Our Meat Processing
After raising your livestock to its target age, weight, and finish (fat cover), the next step will be deciding where to get your animal, or multiple of them, butchered and cut. Here at Pease Packing, we’ve got over 100 years in the business of butchering and custom cuts which has helped us deliver excellent meats back to our local farmers.
In this month’s blog, we’re highlighting our meat processing service and how we take your meats to their fullest potential.
Animal Drop Off
When your animal is brought down here to Pease Packing, one important thing we always do is tag it. This way, when the animal is sent through the butchering process and hung, we know exactly what animal/meats are yours.
This is something small that goes a long way towards us not making mistakes in the future for when you get your meat back.
Custom Cutting
This part of the process is our bread and butter, because when we go to custom cut your meat, we always make sure it’s according to your exact specifications. We have precise control over steak thickness, roast sizes, fat content, and specialty cuts.
All of this means that when your animal is dropped off, it’s good to know what you’re looking for out of the meat it will provide. Here’s a helpful link on what to know before your animal is dropped off and what’ll ultimately make your experience of consuming the meat better.
Packaging and Chilling
Right after cutting, our next priority becomes preserving as much flavor on the meat as possible. To accomplish this for our clients, we vacuum-seal and flash-freeze each piece of meat and keep them there until you’re back to pick them up.
The flash freezing is what locks in the flavor that’ll last all year if you so desire, making this part of our process just another reason why our local farmers keep coming back. The meats will be ready and taste as fresh as the day they were cut, even if you’re saving them for a Holiday down the road.
So that’s our meat processing structure here at Pease Packing, and why many locals with livestock continue to use our butchering services. If you’re looking for custom cut meat around the Kalamazoo area, contact us today for more information on drop off and requests for custom cuts!
